Overall Satisfaction with IBM Maximo Application Suite
We are in the final stages of implementing IBM Maximo Application Suite to replace our existing system, including definition and management of assets, planning, scheduling and execution of work and capturing asset information in the field
Pros
- Classification structure is useful
- appears to be flexible in configuration
- excellent searching and filtering capability
Cons
- UI is inconsistent and unwieldy, particularly when selecting from a list
- Inconsistent approaches to asset definition/creation (rotating items vs asset template) cause difficulties
- Doesn't handle bulk updates to asset well - eg updating condition monitoring limits for the same group of assets should require asset by asset updates
- Inspection capability is basic. Data structure in effect requires all information to be transposed to meters - which don;t support all response formats
- Not yet achieved. Will be some swings and round-abouts compared to existing system
Classification concept will assist in managing information and analysing assets
Manage within a grouped structure using classifications. Looking for further benefits in the machine learning space
Plant number concept in Ellipse will be missed. Change to IBM Maximo Application Suite has provided opportunity to break from old (bad) habits and re-engineer system processes with usage more aligned to system design Main reason we are changing is to find a COTS solution for inspections to replace the existing inspection solution (home-built but very good)
