Overall Satisfaction with IBM Power Systems Virtual Server

We use the platform to host various information systems that handle thousands of transactions daily throughout the university. We generate diverse reports, transfer and receive data from different external sources.
  • Stable system, very little downtime.
  • You can run them on legacy business systems.
  • Graphical interface is easy to use.
  • A little too expensive, wish it were cheaper.
  • It still relies on old green screen.
  • Can be complex for users who do not have a lot of experience with IBM systems.
  • It has helped us consistently provide services on time.
  • Ability to run virtual servers significantly reduces hardware and maintenance costs.
  • It does require significantly more training of our employees though, particularly those who do not have a lot of experience with IBM products.
We selected the IBM Power Systems Virtual Server since our legacy hardware products were already with IBM. It did not make a whole lot of sense for us to start from scratch and roll over our products to Amazon Web Services. Also, as a legacy customer, we were able to negotiate a better deal for it.
