Overall Satisfaction with Insightly

Our organization is using insightly to track relationships and business opportunities and is used across the entire organization. The primary benefit it offers to our team is knowledge sharing, with some members using it for light project management.
  • The synchronization with email is particularly good. Makes saving correspondence with contacts easy and makes it easy to update contacts on the fly without leaving your email client.
  • The card scan feature on the mobile app is a great time saver.
  • The new advanced report feature has a lot of promise for allowing our organization to do better internal analysis and make better data driven decisions.
  • Wish there was something stronger than linking to use to connect contacts/organizations to opportunities because an opportunity could be an individual or organization (as a donor or client), but I may also want to know the other contacts and organizations that are linked.
  • The project functionality could be more robust, especially the calendar which doesn't seem to fully integrate tasks.
  • Happy to see the new advanced reporting feature but wish there was more control in the visualizations you can create.
Mainly haven't been able to build out the reporting features I want. Part of this is due to lack of time to fully utilize the functionality of the system I'm sure. Would be great if there was a user community that could offer pre-made templates or plugins based off of their experience. (Especially if it could be gamified or otherwise rewarded to encourage sharing)
Used DataTel at an old company. The UI was much worse and older looking and I didn't like the navigation as much.

That said, even though I didn't have full user permissions, those that did seemed to be able to use it effectively for project management and research.
Don't think it works particularly well for managing fundraising campaigns or donor relationships. Better as a general purpose relationship manager.

Like the high level of customization but can come across as a lack of features when first starting out.
