Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Jabber
Jabber is a huge collaboration tool in our environment. It is not just a simple chat window for us to remotely chat, but it is also a great tool to show availability. We also use the share desktop feature a lot to collaborate and troubleshoot. The mobile app is also a great tool for reaching others when there are after hours emergencies. This tool is used throughout the company.
- The ability to not only use text, but to be able to post pictures, share files, remote view desktops and control them are really strong features of this tool.
- The GUI interface is well laid out. Recent chats, meetings, and contacts are easy to find and easy to modify. I love how the meetings have a link into the WebEx part so you don't even have to go into Outlook to reach it.
- The Mobile app is a great way to reach someone after hours for emergencies.
- I would have liked to see an option to save chats. I have looked through the software and if it is there, I missed it.
- For the mobile app, if it could update your location through GPS, that would be useful.
- When logged in, the ability to set a "quiet time" could be useful where it would set your audible alarm to a vibrate, or maybe block it entirely.
- Jabber saves me time not having to send an email or walk over to someone's cube for a simple question. It shows if they are away or in a meeting/WebEx.
- Jabber saves time allowing you to access your WebEx meetings through their pop-up or directly in their calendar link. Very convenient and not very intrusive on screen.
- Jabber, like all chat programs, kind of takes the interpersonal communication out of the discussion. However, as designed, it was never meant to replace it.
Jabber is by far a more robust program with a lot more features than Sametime. The integration into Outlook for meetings and schedules is by far more appealing. The ability to share photos, docs, and much more make it stand out from the competition.
