Overall Satisfaction with Jama Connect

Jama is used for business requirement management and reporting.
  • Provides rapid search capabilities.
  • Provide a flexible user-defined structure to manage user stories.
  • Ability to tag and apply filters.
  • Filtering is difficult.
  • Difficult Epic-User story structure.
  • Integration with ALM is limited.
  • On a positive note - it provides ample information to be added to requirements and ability to report on.
  • On a negative note - It can be too manual at times to structure and report on.

For now, it serves as a central repository to store business requirements. We utilized the filtering to report project scope and status. It does not provide a simple way to create an EPIC and defined associated User Stories - ideally, if a user story is based on an EPIC it should inherit some of the EPIC attributes. In additional reporting of EPIC and associated User Stories does not exist.

The collaboration functionality is well done, however it is generally difficult to adopt full usage. The challenge is to avoid the use of email for collaboration. An Outlook plugin might be useful here.
We use all three and try to integrate each.
Capturing of EPIC's and User Stories is easy. Ability to structure and search is easy. Export formats to Excel are difficult to work with. Defining filters is difficult. Viewing EPICs and associated User Stories are too manual and difficult to view and report. Integration with ALM is limited.
