Use Cases and Deployment Scope

we adopt in SW automotive domain to manage projects that must be regulated for ASPICE, ISO26262 and ISO21434. Main scope is to converge in the usage on a single tool and benefit in having all the traceability in live mode, documentation, requirements and Tests specifications. the target is to adopt the same approach for every project and for differents teams so in case of collaboration we can easily converge.

improve the graphical traceability
simplify the integration to other tools (planview is a contrainth)
high license fee + extra cost for integration or for features like AI assistant

Return on Investment

the cost is quite expensive thta's why it is mainly adopted by company needing to meet compliancy to standards. Non regulated SW will choose cheaper tools ( ex JIRA)
there is a significant initial learning curve to become familiar with it and define and customize the processes. After that it becomes easier.

Jama Connect Outcomes

Jama Connect enabled my organization to achieve some outcomes like requirements management, document management and exporting, and compliance to standards. However, difficulties related to complexity, cost, and customization creted some inefficiency. By addressing these issues through enhanced training, and more effective integration strategies, we could further maximize the benefits offered by Jama Connect.

Jama Connect Effectiveness

for sure Jama Connect is advanced tool respect to other tools like doors but I find it similar to others like polarion. In the past we used ReqTracer or Reqtify but it was a nightmare for us. Unfortunately 3DX which can be integrated with Jama Connect is still using reqtify to be connected to Jama Connect.

Alternatives Considered

in terms of features they were similar. The difference was due on the architecture of Jama Connect which apperas more simple and effcient. Polarion was relying to an SVN database.

well suited for requirements management but quite complex when to be integrated with other tools. Jama Connect is a powerful tool that enhances requirements management through centralized data and improves the collaboration for a project. It gives full visibility of the status of project in live mode. it well address SW domain but I have some concerns about the HW domain for which a PLM is needed
