Overall Satisfaction with Jamf Pro

JAMF Pro is used to manage all the Macs at our organization which accounts for about 10% of our user base and is growing. We use it to manage and deploy accounts on our Macs and to update and push software out to them.
  • JAMF handles the initial deployment very well, allowing uniform environments to new users.
  • JAMF makes monitoring the state of the user base and the software very easy.
  • JAMF makes supporting and troubleshooting better with tools.
  • JAMF needs better patch management and the ability for automated and timed patch management.
  • JAMF needs to become a more whole solution with less use of other tools to augment JAMF.
  • Better support for local account management for zero touch deployments.
  • Reducing support staff necessary.
  • Keeping track of inventory.
  • Cloud support meant maintaining physical servers unnecessary.
Cisco Meraki is a cross-platform MDM. Overall it's less polished in general than JAMF, less powerful, and not as intuitive. It depends heavily on the GUI and people with good command-line skills will not find it as powerful. JAMF has been at it for longer and it shows. Also trying to be cross-platform makes it difficult to provide a great solution across the board.
JAMF support is generally great, but sometimes if we have an outage or a very particular issue it can be hard to get support. JAMF Nation is great but the problem with it is that it doesn't show search results for current problems compared to old problems. If I search for a problem I'm having in the current version of JAMF, a similar problem someone had in 2015 isn't going to be very useful. They need to allow you to specify the version and better search within JAMF Nation.

Jamf Pro is well suited for any business with a Mac majority environment and where an organization wants to monitor and maintain multiple Macs in a professional way, as well as giving a uniform user experience for both new users and existing users. Seamless support and easy application installation without the need to put in passwords. A one-stop-shop for both support and maintaining a Mac environment.
