Overall Satisfaction with Jira Software

Project Management/work issues management as a team and as individuals. This software keeps us all align on what we are doing on the project as well as allowing management to have KPIs on the team members and as a team in general. This is cross team and cross platform project management across the company but our team primary uses it as work management.

Pros

  • Visualization of issues. The Kanban board is something that we use as a team to visually see where we are in terms of projects.
  • Issue/KPI tracking. This allows managment to see the number of issues that our team deals with every day.
  • Cross team collaboration. This allows other team members to see where they are on our project as well as seeing what other priorities that may impact our work on their project.

Cons

  • Transferring board. Migrating from one type of board to another
  • Integration with other software. It doesn't play well with Salesforce without another integration tool
  • Sharing. It's not as intuitive as I would like. You have to share the project and not just the issue if you want people to click into the issue.
  • It helps with measuring the team success and workload allowing us visibility into people management which helps us control our bottom line
  • Allows visibility into connected issues and an objective way to determine roadmap
  • Allow us to make informed decision on software spend if we determine if resources are constantly being drawn into one software support/issue
It just makes sense. The UI/UX is a common one and one that you will see across many organization. After you have seen it, you will find yourself comparing other project management tool and wishing you were using Jira again. I have found other tools to be more visually appealing but Jira is the most functional and useful.
Asana was less robust. It is lightweight and has a lot of the same features, has better visuals but it always feel like it isn't robust enough. It is straightforward but it doesn't have the bells and whistle a more robust system like Jira does. And it doesn't have as much of a community and ecosystem that Jira does.

Do you think Atlassian Jira delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Atlassian Jira's feature set?

Yes

Did Atlassian Jira live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Atlassian Jira go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Atlassian Jira again?

Yes

If you work in an agile work environment, the type of tools within Jira is pretty awesome. Although I no longer use party poker for story pointing, it is a fun way to determine points.
It is less appropriate if you have cases where it is a bunch of repetitive tasks like resetting a password. Those don't really work in Jira.
