Overall Satisfaction with KeyShot

My organization uses KeyShot for engineering and marketing activities. This software fills a huge gap we once had with product renderings. The realism the user can create using this software is pretty unbelievable. We have used it anywhere from internal projects all the way to FDA submissions.

Pros

  • Super easy to learn.
  • Renderings have amazing realism.
  • Ability to share license across multiple PCs.

Cons

  • Would recommend a PC workstation for large projects.
  • File sizes can get pretty large.
  • Would love to see a monthly or per use pricing scheme.
  • Huge cost savings.
  • Improved project presentations.
  • Improved regulatory submissions to FDA.
The rendering capability with SOLIDWORKS PhotoWorks is pretty good but takes time to learn and is a little cumbersome compared to KeyShot. KeyShot offers a SOLIDWORKS plug-in that works great allowing the user to export models directly from SOLIDWORKS to KeyShot.
Honestly, I've only needed customer support a couple of times. One time was a question about licensing which their customer service explained very well and offered just the help I was looking for.

KeyShot can do some really amazing things as far as product renderings. You can turn simple 3D models into realistic images in a very short amount of time. I wish there were a way to manipulate the geometry once imported into KeyShot. The software allows this user to move geometry but not change its shape or form.
