Overall Satisfaction with kintone Application Builder

We have been using kintone Application Builder organization-wide. It helps us:
  • Onboard new volunteers
  • Streamline our communications
  • Manage our clients and applications
  • Manage donations/grants
  • Complete program evaluation and reporting
When staff or new volunteers join our organization, they start using kintone Application Builder from the moment they apply. As part of the training and onboarding process, everyone becomes a user in kintone as a one-stop-shop for tracking their involvement, submitting evaluations, and contacting staff if needed.
  • Forms - huge improvement from basic Google Forms for collecting data
  • Flexibility with data management - users can easily create and manipulate their own applications and how they want their data to be managed
  • Permissions - it makes it very easy for different levels of users to have access to certain information/apps and not to others that don't apply to their role
  • Importing/Transitioning to kintone can take some time - it is easy once you learn it, but that process does take time
  • Portal organization - this is currently being updated but still has room for improvement
  • Translation options - I wish there were more languages available for translation
  • Saved us thousands of dollars compared to our previous software system
  • Saved hundreds of employee hours because of streamlined communications/processes
  • Allowed us to more easily consider scaling and organizational growth
We were previously using a custom system that a designer was working on specifically for our organization and it just wasn't meeting our needs. Having the full staff power and experience of kintone Application Builder has been a huge upgrade in that sense and we are also saving on the cost! I looked at Salesforce as well since it is a popular option, but I felt it lacked in ease of use and customization ability compared to kintone.
The kintone staff is INCREDIBLE! Everyone I have worked with has been supportive of my organization's mission, willing to set up a meeting promptly, generous with their time, and very knowledgeable about the product. Kintone also has a wide range of videos and existing resources for how to use the system in addition to being able to reach out to staff any time.

Kintone Application Builder is well suited for organizations or groups that have the time/buy-in for committing to learning and building a new system. The kintone staff is incredible and does help a lot with the start-up and getting you started, but you do have to make sure the people who will be using it have basic tech literacy and are willing to embrace using it for most operations. I think that's when it is most effective.
