Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

I am the office manager and I have an ongoing need to be able to work with PDF documents in ways that most applications don't allow. I found Kofax Power PDF back in 2015 when it was still owned by Nuance and have been using it ever since. For the amount of work I do in terms of editing and converting PDF files, Kofax Power PDF has been indispensable as a tool. Being able to automatically create form fields has saved me countless hours and frustration. Kofax Power PDF is the best possible value in a PDF editor, no contest!
  • Extensive functionality, especially with regard to the Form Typer and Text and Object Editing features.
  • Familiar interface. The toolbars and menus resemble other popular office suites.
  • OS integration. I like being able to select one or more files and convert/combine them into PDF files.
  • Can be slow to load when you are in a hurry, but not too bad.
  • Number of features can be overwhelming at times, but the toolbars/menus make it decently easy to find what you are looking for.
  • In time savings alone Kofax Power PDF has more than made up for its cost.
  • In terms of being able to make customers happy with quick turnarounds on documents that would otherwise take much longer to edit/fill out it has been priceless.
  • The peace of mind in knowing that we have the application to get the job done when it comes to documents is another metric you can't put a price tag on.
The menus and toolbars are very familiar as they resemble those of other popular office suites. Finding the feature you are looking for is only a matter of a few clicks or a hover over a toolbar for a tooltip. I have saved countless hours due to the ease with which I have been able to work with any document I might need.
Kofax Power PDF is the only application that has all of the features I need in one place. I still use DocHub/DocuSign for simple documents that don't require a lot of form filling but Kofax Power PDF is always my first choice for working with anything above that. The Form Typer tool is one of the most helpful features that are hard to find in other software. Having that and the ability to fully edit a PDF are the main reasons I have stayed with Power PDF for 6 years.
I only had to contact support once and that was only because my computer crashed and when I tried to install Power PDF on the new system it said it was already installed on another computer. Since I couldn't uninstall it from the dead PC I called support and they were able to give me another number to use to register the software on the new PC.

The Form Typer and the text/object editing functions have seen the most use by me. The time savings these tools have provided has been unmeasurable. I'm certain that these features alone have saved me thousands of hours over the course of the 6 years I have been using the app.
Kofax Power PDF is well suited for almost any task. I use it mostly for detailed editing and filling out long forms. The ability to automatically create form fields and then move/adjust or delete them as needed makes long forms so simple to fill in. For making minor but detailed edits, the text and object edit tools are unstoppable. The only instances where I would say you are better off using a different app would be if you are strictly viewing a PDF (as the app can take a little time to load sometimes) or if you have a simple form that you just need to sign or fill a couple of fields and return it to someone via email (for that I would recommend a service such as DocuSign or DocHub). Kofax Power PDF does allow you to securely sign documents and I have used it for larger forms when I also needed to create the fields.
