Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

As of right now, I am the only employee using Kofax. I use it at my home office (desktop) and when I am on the go (field laptop). I am not currently using Kofax for most of my document creation, but that is due to my lack of familiarization with the software in general. I am currently using Excel to build the document and save to Kofax.

The pdf documents we currently have available are used as a backup in the event our report writing software is having issues. I also use the documents I did create with Kofax to serve as a master copy when I need to order carbonless reports from our contracted printing company. I am learning more and more about the wonders of pdf documents and why they are by far a better option.
  • The biggest one for me is the ability to have multiple tabs open instead of having multiple copies of the program running - this helps to keep things organized without having to use ALT+TAB to locate a document you may need.
  • The "Forms" tab is by far my favorite tab to use. This has been extremely helpful when it comes to making my backup reports fillable. I am a big fan of the digital signature and include it on all of our client reports.
  • I like how easy it is to edit text and change the order of the pages, as well as adding additional pages.
  • I'm sure there are plenty of YouTube videos about this, but I wouldn't mind having access to easy to follow tutorials.
  • My only real gripe about Kofax (it did this even when it was Nuance) - it seems to be a little on the slow side to open the program.
  • Is there a way to change the background color of the text box? If not, I would find this useful.
  • Auto-complete significantly reduced the amount of time spent writing client reports. I would write on average 15-20 client reports nightly.
  • Kofax allows the purchaser to install the program on three computers. This is a great perk as it lets me install the program on multiple devices. This is a huge help because I do not have to learn multiple programs just to work with my documents.
  • Personally, I have not experienced anything negative since purchasing Kofax.
I would consider myself a novice when it comes to pdf programs. I find Kofax to be relatively easy to navigate and easy to learn the features. Most of what I know how to do was fairly easy to learn with no help. The more I use the program, the more I learn.
Adobe is currently installed on the computer at my office. When I have to use the company computer, it is difficult to complete some of the work because a lot of the features in the free version of Adobe do not work unless you have a subscription. Personally, I do not like having to pay a monthly fee just so I can create a pdf document.
So far I have not needed to contact customer support while using Kofax. When I was using Nuance, I had three computers crash and was not able to uninstall Nuance in order to free up a license. I spoke to a customer service agent who was able to help rectify the issue. I have no complaints about the customer service department.

Auto-complete is by far my favorite feature. I like that the program is designed like a web browser in that you can have multiple documents open and they are all displayed (via tabs). The tabs also allow you to sort the documents which further reduces the amount of time spent on our current project.
At my job, before we implemented our report writing software, I would type our client reports using my copy of Nuance Power PDF. I soon realized a feature of the program is auto-complete - Kofax Power PDF still has that feature. Auto-complete reduced my time spent on generating reports by almost half. Auto-complete is one of the main reasons I decided not to subscribe to Adobe.

The auto-complete stores entries into form fields and suggests completions as you start to type data into other fields. A drop-down box displays a list of most likely choices. Double-click or press the Down Arrow in an empty field to display a more complete list of possibilities.
