Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

Kofax Power PDF is used as the default PDF program to read and edit PDF documents. It is used by my small business to manipulate PDF documents. We use it to mark up PDFs, to extract pages from PDFs and to combine and create PDFs. I have found it to be very powerful and quick with PDF tasks.
  • Easy to edit PDFs.
  • Easy to jump to pages and remove pages in PDF.
  • Seems to load documents quickly.
  • The option to create PDFs from e-mail attachments is nice, but there is not an option to print the e-mail as part of that screen.
  • When printing an e-mail using the Kofax Print to PDF function, it does not use the subject of the e-mail as the name of the document. Previous program did this.
  • Responsive program that saves time.
  • Saves money because they actually have affordable license rates.
In some respects, I think the program is easy to use. In other respects there have been issues in trying to get things done. The menu did not seem intuitive and you had to dig to understand how to complete a task. But in the end it was able to accomplish the task.
We were using the Nitro PDF program previously. It was a good program and there are some differences that take getting use to. However, in the end the pricing on the Kofax product was more reasonable. And it seems to have a lot more options included. However this is comparing the old Nitro to new Kofax so things may have changed.
The support so far has been impressive. The license was for the Enterprise edition but I was very impressed by the speed at which I received a call after submitting my question on the Web. I did not expect to receive a call and the technician was very knowledgeable and answered a couple of other questions that I had. I do not know if this is normal because we have only reached out to them one time.

The ability to manipulate PDF. Redaction and Bates stamping.
I think in general it is a good program to handle daily PDF manipulation. Has features like redaction and bates stamping which is important to my clients. The documentation and menu layout could use some improvement. However, technical support has been very responsive when using the enterprise edition.
