Overall Satisfaction with Lifesize Video Conferencing

We self-implemented. Setup was straightforward. It took us a while to figure out how to invert the cameras for ceiling mounting. Software interface for device admin is simple, cloud interface for service was really easy to configure. The cabling was more complicated than we expected, and I wish we'd had dual screens so we could display full-size screen share next to full-size video.
We use Lifesize primarily to connect our employees in four cities for company-wide meetings and training events. With a distributed workforce, it's important for us to be able to bring everyone together, every week, as a whole company, so we all know exactly what we need to do to forward our mission.
  • High quality video stream - great picture quality at low bandwidth
  • Mixed presentation and video simultaneous - see the presentation, see who's presenting
  • Easy setup and installation
  • Proprietary equipment - you have to buy their gear to use their service
  • Pricey for initial setup and installation
  • Limited software controls during meetings, controlling the equipment is disruptive to the event
Great for team-to-team meetings and large room setup. Audio system is high quality with long-range microphones, so it's easy to hear and see everything that's going on. The core presentation and video functionality is great, but the chat and audio-only options are limited. Their systems don't do enough to completely replace telephony systems, so if you're looking for a "complete" unified messaging system, they don't go far enough. But if you need a great room-to-room conferencing solution, this will work.

Configuring Lifesize Video Conferencing

I wish it was easier to configure a unit to a specific layout, camera angle, display source, etc. all with one touch. I also wish there was an app for controlling a unit from a smartphone, so we could adjust camera, layout, audio, and recording on behalf of a speaker without having to go to the front of the room to the phone unit to do it.

Lifesize Video Conferencing Support

Equipment is top notch, video stream quality is high, audio is fantastic. I wish we had more options for controlling camera feeds and actively switching between video and presentation feeds both locally and for the remote endpoints. The apps for desktop and mobile aren't nearly as high quality or intuitive as the actual icon units.

Lifesize Video Conferencing Reliability

Easy to add additional units to the system.
