Overall Satisfaction with Lucidchart

Lucidchart is as close to using a virtual whiteboard without having to use a tablet. It allows users to create complex designs without having to build out every single object. Rough wireframes can be built within minutes of opening a new document. The speed and ease of use from no prior experience required to being able to make a valuable design document is unparalleled.
Lucidchart is being used by my organization in a variety of departments. Client Services and Sales use it to build out implementation and go live flows. Engineering uses it/with the direct integration into Atlassian's Confluence in order to show all architectural documentation. Specifically in engineering we are a remote first department so the ability to collaborate on a design in real time is a huge benefit to building large intricate systems without the need to be physically present.
  • Ability to collaborate on a document in real time.
  • Ability to create reusable templates for key lines of business
  • Ability to integrate with out key business software environments. i.e. Confluence, Sharepoint etc.
  • I would like to see the ability to have a macro for adding existing widgets or templates within a document for example in Confluence the '/' hotkey that lets me insert predefined templates.
  • Increased time to development approval. (thought generation, to request for comment, to approval for development)
Typically we have not had any issues with the product so my knowledge of the support offerings/response times is rather limited. With that said the community support for learning the platform is very robust and provides a ton of support.

draw.io was a very good diagramming software but it falls short in a few areas: templating and collaboration. Lucidchart excels at both of those areas. This allows our power users and even novice users to jump in and get diagramming with little to no setup required. We find that the ease of access Lucidchart provides makes the decision to move forward easy.
Lucidchart for my department is the perfect software for designing solutions and sharing that information with stakeholders. In the development process from thought generation to creating data flows, sequence diagrams, and data modeling diagrams. It tends to be less effective when there is more documentation needed than just diagrams. A notes section or ability to link to a Confluence article from within Lucidchart would be an effective plugin.
