Overall Satisfaction with Majestic SEO
We use tools like Majestic for research purposes among other things. It works well to analyze websites that we are considering to outreach for content placement. While many of the other tools on the market can do the same thing, their metrics can be more easily manipulated. I think that most marketers agree that Majestic is the gold standard when it comes to researching the validity of a companies natural growth over time as it relates to their backlinks.
They are also great for competitive research. This is especially true if you monitor any competitors closely as you can search for activity by dates which is not offered by many of its competitors.

- Backlink research.
- Competitor research.
- Tracking backlinks.
- Index of backlinks could be bigger
- Date range for searching backlink history could be larger as well, would be awesome to have an unlimited time frame instead of 90 days.
- Having associations with sites that have bad backlinks can be have a negative effect on SEO which means negative ROI in your efforts.
- On the flip side, doing the proper research can help your outreach efforts and increase ROI significantly, it is hard to scale and attribute it directly to the tool but it definitely saves time and effort from not associating with bad sites and that is worth a lot.
Majestic has features that most of their competitors don't. The backlink index is better than SEMRush in my opinion which also lacks being able to look at links from a range of dates. Their metrics are harder to fool when compared to Moz and I would say that AHREF's is a good competitor but each company keeps their own index of links so its good to use more than one tool.
