Overall Satisfaction with ManageEngine Endpoint Central

I use ManageEngine to cover my small fleet of VM's and endpoints for my small business. I use a mix of Windows and Linux endpoints and servers. Endpoint Central helps me track my assets and keep all my internal and external facing systems patched and managed. Being able to see missing patches AND configuration errors has given me a huge time savings with handling security. This has also been incredibly useful with deploying software quickly without having to manually login to each system to make it happen.

Pros

  • Patching and CVE management
  • Deploying software
  • Tracking storage usage

Cons

  • CVE management could be more simplified
  • OS deployment could be better described
  • Linux patching could be streamlined
  • Patching things quickly reduces things that I have to do manually, which lets me focus on my key areas of expertise
  • Mass deployments rather than manual installs or programming my own batch scripts lets me focus on the core business tasks I perform
  • Tracking storage / RAM usage has helped me avoid resource crunches
The usability of ManageEngine Endpoint Central is very solid. Most functions are easy to figure out and use and reuse. The critical tasks like patching and software deployment are quite self explanatory. I think the only real usability issues are how patching / software deployment feel like entirely separate programs and not just different menus within the same product.
I've evaluated Spiceworks, ManageEngine, PDQ, and Lansweeper, and have settled on using ManageEngine as my goto. Software deployment is better in ManageEngine vs PDQ and Lansweeper since it is agent based, and works regardless of network location. Lansweeper has better inventory management, but ManageEngine has modules for that that function adequately. Spiceworks is free which is points in its favor, but it's not robust enough for business needs in my opinion.

Yes

Did ManageEngine Endpoint Central live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of ManageEngine Endpoint Central go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy ManageEngine Endpoint Central again?

Yes

It works really well for small deployments as well as huge deployments.

It has served my small business very well, as well as serving the large businesses I've worked for incredibly well.

If you're looking to mass deploy or install software, it is amazing.

If you're looking to keep a small fleet or a large fleet up to date on MS and Linux patching, it performs perfectly.

With the upcoming Windows 10 EOS, it has been very helpful isolating systems that are not compatible and that will need to be replaced.
