Use Cases and Deployment Scope

ManageEngine Endpoint Central is used to deploy applications & software patching to over 300 Windows & Linux servers, and about 200 Windows desktops. It is also used to unify the configuration of about 200 raspberry pis. This allows security patching to stay up to date & reports when devices are out of the expected compliance.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Ease of use & deployment
Manages various operating systems that we have deployed
Great reportings to both technical & managerial positions
Assists in training new staff to manage a large organization

Cons

It's be great if it was also a central logging facility for network devices, but we have that handled by other software.
Configuration of specific SSL versions & hashes wasn't easy to get compliant but we did get there.

Return on Investment

ManageEngine Endpoint Central has freed up time for our helpdesk to focus on staff issues rather than on device deployment & management.
Compliance loves the ability to pull reports showing the patching & security status of the environment.

Usability

We have been able to setup tiers of access within ManageEngine Endpoint Central. This allows us to give people the access they need to perform thier roles without causing security or compliance issues where many software packages previously used just had everyone giving administrator access to the system.

Alternatives Considered

Most of the software packages would handle 1 aspect of what ManageEngine Endpoint Central does for us. They might do patching well or device configuration well, but ManageEngine Endpoint Central allows us to handle all of the required tasks we need for Server, Desktop, and Pi based configuration & patching.

Many colleages speak of having separate platforms for each difference Operating System. I've been able to demonstrate that ManageEngine Endpoint Central can be a single pane for multi-platform management & patching. Raspberry Pis are one area that i see more organizations using and we have successfully used ME to help with our deployment of these tiny devices.
