Overall Satisfaction with Matillion
We use Matillion to transfer data between our production PostgreSQL databases and our Snowflake data warehouse. This robust integration ensures efficient data migration and significantly enhances our data management processes. By leveraging Snowflake's advanced analytics and storage capabilities, we then gain deeper insights and make more informed strategic business decisions, driving overall growth.
Pros
- Excellent GUI to build data flows
- Flows backed up to GitHub for versioning
- Once set up it's full automated and so far no failures
Cons
- Perhaps some modernisation of the interface
- More granular cost reporting
- Much less time spent on traditional ETL scripts
- Lower cost than expected
- Very robust
We were able to get up and running with Matillion remarkably quickly, we were able to get some test flows up in a few hours and a more in depth setup took about one day, including configuring the software and connecting to our data sources. Within the first week, we configured our full ETL processes and conducted initial testing. By the end of the second week, we ran our first data jobs successfully.
Cost and ease of use were better for our purposes. Matillion distinguishes itself from Fivetran and SnapLogic through its user-friendly design, no-code interface, in-depth transformation capabilities, allowing for complex data manipulations directly within the platform, offering greater control and customization over ETL processes. Additionally, Matillion is designed to scale easily, handling large data volumes while ensuring consistent performance at a cost-effective pricing model.
