Overall Satisfaction with Matillion

Matillion ETL is used by us to create the data pipelines to extract the data from the clients source systems and ingest it into Snowflake and perform some transformations within the pipeline. Even after inserting the data to the raw layer in Snowflake we create some pipelines to read the data from the raw layer and transform it for some reporting purposes and insert it into consumption layer for bi tool to read the data from there.

Pros

Cons

  • git integration needs to be improved as it stores JSON file
  • credit cost should be based on processing time
  • reduced the development time by about 60 to 70%
  • increase the data warehouse processing time
as the tool doesn't require you to have much coding expertise. it already have all the built-in elements you just have to drag and drop the elements in the pipeline and configure it with your credentials and you are all set it will perform the required operations for you.
it took around few months to learn all the things and start building the pipelines on Matillion. its very easy to learn and easy to use tool. once you start using it you will start enjoy working on it as it saves the time and efforts and also it doesn't require much coding skills.
it has the ability to connect to almost all the traditional data sources and even to all the latest data warehousing tools which makes it usable for the organizations regardless of which database and data warehousing tool they are using and it works smoothly will all of them without having any such limitations.
Matillion has better capabilities and better built-in elements that saves your time and efforts. also the connectivity across multiple data warehousing tool is better in Matillion. even the performance of the pipeline and the time required to create a particular pipeline is less time consuming.

wherever there is a need of extracting the data from multiple sources and loading the data in any data warehousing tool while performing certain transformation during the pipeline run and you don't have much coding expertise and need to save the time and efforts then Matillion is the best suited tool to do that.
