Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Entra ID

I currently use this product to help one of my clients. I currently use this product to help facilitate the entire management of their email system. So basically it addressed problems because before they were another vendor and it was very hard to apply policies. It was done by a third party provider. So the company didn't have any type of insight on how their management of their policies were being done. We didn't have enough reports information wise. So with this here and now we can have more activity, more assurance in terms of integrity, like who accesses person's emails, especially from a privileged account like IT persons can do more stuff than the average user. So management need that confidence. So address that problem of transparency and visibility to be honest, in terms of access across the cloud, because we use Entra ID to access so many different products, especially those are connected to Entra.

Pros

  • It addresses the issue of identity management very well with respect to putting in that multi authentication.
  • It can also support with respect to we can push these policies into another product that is not Microsoft, but it needs that SSO so we can have one account going into multi different accounts. I think that's the biggest pros and the easy use of Microsoft 365 also is one of those pros also in terms of administration.

Cons

  • Well, I don't think there's anything wrong with the existing product of course. So improvement would be just to expand the functionalities to be honest. Maybe have an easier way to expand it into devices of any type. Once it's an API, Microsoft probably has something, but it's not that easy. I can't see it. I show you this click, I want to connect to this, to my firewall or this to this product. Just make it more easy to connect to more products as possible because you have this identity product, it has all the benefits of running, all that compliant stuff that Microsoft gives you. You have all the benefits of the whole accessibility and management and privilege management there for you. Just extend it to more products and that's the only thing I would say to improve on.
  • Well, the only, the product itself I believe have a great return on investment in terms of the aspect reducing our risk. My client's risk in terms of lack of transparency, having to have a third party vendor have the keys to their kingdom and they couldn't manage their emails. Now they can manage their emails, they can do much more archiving, they can do a lot more use of the product because they're not in control of the product. And they also have the ability to have their emails and the management of the emails in one space of identity to improve the whole identity services that they need for their entire, most of these companies are now beginning and they're going to expand. So this client is going to looking to expand the future to more stuff. So that's about it in terms of the use.
Only in the cloud. It's mainly through cloud base. The deployment is basically just email at this moment. We are going to extend it to other identities like Zoom, there's so many things that we have to extend it to, but right now we've just come out of a migration. We came from another provider only to be honest, in January. We had a product before, but we didn't onboard everybody. We have onboarded everybody at the end of January, everyone was onboarded and still we have some other anomalies to onboard also. So once they're onboarded, but for the email purposes, we can look to extend the other applications.
Not yet.
Just the Microsoft ones. No others.
Well, I would say just ease of use. Some people have devices with the pass keys so they didn't have to log in anymore, just use their fingerprint or their face and it goes through. So that alone, not having to remember password is still very unique.
Yeah, so basically that product to be honest, was more of a getting comfortable with cloud identification management. So that was a product I used. It has all the policies for desktops and doing updates and all that central directory identity provisioning stuff for users. Users and I will have an advantage because right now you get it from the time you get email, you get it, it is there, right? I mean you don't have to pay for anything. And then Microsoft, depending on your interest file license you have Access to Defender and all of those other nice products that compliment Entra ID. So I think that Entra ID is more rich. There's more potential as the business scales if that other product, you can't really scale as much as it was good because I deal with a lot of small medium size enterprises. I do a lot of more consulting type firms. They don't have more than 20 consultants and they just need a system whether it's for their legal activities, finance activities, et cetera. But in terms of having an email is very important to so many companies. So it's so easy to use the Entra ID and easy to expand more value for money for clients.

Do you think Microsoft Entra ID delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Microsoft Entra ID's feature set?

Yes

Did Microsoft Entra ID live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Microsoft Entra ID go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Microsoft Entra ID again?

Yes

Scenarios where it's less appropriate. Well if you're going to the cloud, you need to get email. This is well suited because that email account can be your identifier for a whole set of web applications out there on the internet. It may not be useful in an on-premise situation, especially sometimes may not have that connectivity to the internet for certain specific situations, but I'm not sure of which because the world is moving very more internet centric environment. So that's it.

Using Microsoft Entra ID

I mean it's pretty good. It is click, click. I mean, oftentimes I can go to the expert or layer two support to get help. Suddenly I go to them. So it has to be pretty useful to be honest. I do a lot of, and there's a lot of, you could do research quickly online to find out how to do certain things. I think that's the only thing we can improve to in terms of kind of a best practice path is setting up it. But because I'm it profess of tons of years in co-management services, I can figure it out. But for others they may not be able to figure it out. You still need an IT person of course to translate all of that. But to me pretty straightforward. I come from the days of directory from 2008, 2000, Microsoft server 2000.
