Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Excel
We use Microsoft Excel for all spreadsheet needs. Beyond typical spreadsheet program use cases, we find that it is great for keeping track of projects and tasks, as well as opening exports from other platforms. We are able to use Microsoft Excel as a single point to pull data from multiple sources and get a central view on what is going on.
Pros
- Managing lists of data
- Breaking out data in detailed outputs with pivots
- Generation of simple graphics from data sets, like pie charts
Cons
- Built in tutorials
- User interface could be more intuitive
- Better integrated graphics options
- Saves us time on data preparation and analysis
- Allows us to track tasks without spending budget on specialized software
- Integrated into MS Teams, allows greater collaboration
Microsoft Lists allows for users to keep lists, but the functionality cannot be compared to Microsoft Excel. There are far more options for data manipulation, analysis, and creating outputs in Excel. Anything that can be done in Lists can be done easily in MS Excel. The key difference may be in SharePoint integration, but I'm not sure from my own experience.
