Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Visio

Microsoft Visio is ideal to use for visual mapping. We primarily use it for creating organisational structure maps and process flowcharts. It provides a great easy-to-read visual for presentations or general reference. It can streamline the process by pulling data from an Excel sheet as well, or you can custom make from scratch.

Cons

  • Initial learning can be tricky
  • Have Excel data pull correctly - it requires a certain format
  • Positive ROI on labour from efficiencies
  • Included in the MS Suite
It takes a bit of learning to get comfortable with it, but once you have some experience it is highly useable and practical for the specific purpose of chart creation. There are plenty of videos and instructions to help the initial learning as well.
Cost benefit is significant with Microsoft Visio vs Miro, as it is included in the MS 365 Suite. While it has less capability overall than Miro, for flowcharts specifically it is great.

Yes

We have used Microsoft Visio extensively for restructure processes to create new organisational charts. We have also used it for mapping new or updated processes, to then share out to relevant stakeholders. Copying the data as-is or as a picture into a presentation works well, depending on the size of the chart.
