Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

Mimecast helps our users become more aware of the emails they are receiving by adding additional security measure before links or attachments are opened. By enforcing additional security features into our email products, we can rest assured knowing that our environment and data are safe and out of immediate harms way. More specifically, the Targeted Threat Protection module has been one of the latest Mimecast product we've implemented to continue enhancing our security foot print within the organization. By utilizing this service, we have links being verified prior to being opened, allowing our users to be more protected against any types of phishing attacks and impersonation actors.

Cons

  • I would like to see some additional improvement around the attachment protection, specifically what may be getting caught and what types of files are attempting to be delivered via email by impersonators.
  • The Targeted Threat Protection is a great product, and I wish there was a dashboard for this service where we could easily see the types of emails and/or links that have been caught as part of the protection module that could be shared with executives.
  • Finally, I feel that the phishing protection is great and honestly don't believe there should be much improvement needed there.
  • Since implementing Mimecast, we've been able to drop email related incidents down by over 50%. Our help desk teams have been extremely thankful for this reduction in tickets. It gives them more time to work on more pressing issues.
  • Mimecast has helped us identify users who need more training by the use of phishing campaigns to help users better understand what to look for in a malicious email.
  • By tracking email usage, Mimecast has helped us hold users in our organization accountable for the emails that they open, View and interact with. It has also helped us in severe cases where users continue to put the organization at risk from an email perspective, and need additional consequences for their actions regarding email dangers.
I would provide it an 8 simply because it does what it states it will do. I would give it a higher rating if there were dash boards we could utilize to identify where the most attacks are coming from, along with any remediations steps that would be beneficial in preventing those attacks in the future.

The reason we went with Mimecast over other products was for the partnership. We heard from our businesses who utilize Mimecast of their great partnerships and relationships they build with their customers. We meet with our representative quarterly to discuss any trends in the email world and how we can better protect and prepare our organization from those trending threats. This is the biggest value Mimecast provides our team with.

Advanced email protection is a great feature that helps protect emails from being delivered that might include malicious content, from email attachments to phishing links. In today's world, we are bombarded with emails and many of those could be a potential attach against the organization. By utilizing the advanced email protection features, we save our users the time and hassle from having to do a manual review of all email messages, and have more peace of mind when users are absent mindedly clicking on links perhaps they should not have!
