Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Cloud Archive

We started working with Mimecast Cloud Archive almost a decade ago to solve two main problems. The first was long term data archival for compliancy purpose, and the second, more important problem, was an easy and efficient way to search that archive. Mimecast Cloud Archive fixes both of those problems with ease. Their cloud portal has advanced search functions that make it easy to find what you are looking for and has many options to search for.

  • Easier to find menu options that are not buried so deep
  • Mimecast Cloud Archive has allowed our users we support better access to their own emails quickly. That makes them more efficient
  • The tool allows our legal team to search through emails for different legal reasons which has saved us countless hours in court litigation
  • It has allowed managers easier access to past employees emails to better train replacements and knowledge transfer which has helped new employees get up to speed much faster.
Although the search tools are powerful, they do sometimes need some experience to get them to work the way you want them to. Mimecast Cloud Archive has gone through some web GUI changes over the past few years and it has gotten better with time. The menu structure has become more useable and the search function to find menus within the portal is fantastic to use and fast.
Most of the time in the portal, the responsiveness is great and pages load fast. When doing an intense archive search with hundreds of potential results, it does slow down. The biggest issue that I have ran into is that it doesn't have any sort of progress bar that it is loading. You get a pop up notification that the page is loading information but that will go away and you have to wait until it finishes the job its working on.
I have had 1 outage that actually impacted my workflow with Mimecast Cloud Archive in the years that I have worked with the tool. And even with that outage it was resolved quickly and communication was sent out about the outage so I knew that it was being worked on actively. Support was willing to reach back out after the outage was resolved to continue helping me with what I was working on.
We had used Sophos Reflect in the past before moving to Mimecast Cloud Archive. The tool was good but not as user friendly to use on a day to day basis and the setup was much more involved than Mimecast Cloud Archive was. I have also used checkpoint in the past which did not have as many features as Mimecast Cloud Archive and had less value for the cost of the licensing at the time.

If someone is looking for a cloud archive solution, I believe Mimecast Cloud Archive has one of the best. I have worked with a few competitors in the past but the reason we have continued with Mimecast Cloud Archive is because of the capability, cost to value, and support that we receive. They also have other capabilities that can add security to your environment that you can access from the same portal.
