Overall Satisfaction with MIP Fund Accounting (formerly Abila MIP)

We use MIP Fund Accounting in our Finance and Administration department only. It allows us to run our department efficiently. Provides us with the tools we need for everyday accounting duties. Creating budgets, deposits, A/R and A/P transactions etc. We have very few complaints or issues with the system.
  • Ease of use to start: I can easily navigate the system, the subgroups make it very efficient.
  • Report Writer: The setup allows me to retrieve the information I want in the format that I want.
  • Processing my 1099s: I love the ability to quickly compile the information and also the ability to retrieve it later. The option of processing for more than one company. We no longer have more than one but at the time it made processing simpler easier and faster.
  • There had been a couple of issues with the check processing when there is a jam and having to reprocess. It doesn't have it often but I find myself trying to figure out which option to choose to begin again. So maybe a little more clarity around that.
Since we only use the accounting feature I cannot speak on the HR or payroll part. I recommend that nonprofits use MIP Fund Accounting especially because it is a more professional way of handling finances. It goes beyond the options that QuickBooks will give you. Especially useful during audits, for tracking independent contractors and their payments. Since the only other significant accounting software I've used is Lawson software, I unfortunately can't give a less appropriate example.
