Overall Satisfaction with Newswire

I recommend it to clients for major news releases. It's a known name in the industry. In the last one or two years, I've recommended it several times for announcements including clients and partnerships with the City of Seattle, including others. We use Newswire mainly for awareness amplification and an SEO lift for smaller companies.
  • Distribution
  • Release management
  • SEO bolstering
  • Getting placement with actual journalists.
  • Giving users more control over targeting.
  • Providing industry specific channels and more nuanced recommendations.
  • Brand awareness
  • SERPs
  • SEO improvements
Very easy to use, but again, there's not a lot of nuances here. This is a "spray and pray" tool for smaller companies or companies with new names. You'll get out there, but often not with any truly valuable placements, unless your news was already going to get that organically.
I believe they're owned by the same company. Cision offers more robust release products, but they were too much bang for what we needed. We just needed to get the word out and get inbound links and populated some SERPs. For that Newswire was plenty good, would use it again.

Newswire is a good option if you need to build awareness and/or SEO for a newer/smaller name company. You'll usually get re-published by at least content farms, so that helps for inbound links and SERPs. It's less helpful for this if you're already an established company, or your news is so notable that it'll get placements without the service. If you don't have substantial news or know how to write a proper press release, don't expect it to get you published anywhere other than content farms.
