Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At our organization, we use OneCause to manage event registration and day-of donations. We are able to easily train our cross-department staff who volunteer at the event for registration and pledge management. It is simple to set up on iPads, and our donors feel more comfortable giving their credit card information into a system instead of writing it all down on paper donation envelopes.

Usability

The classic platform is rated 6, but we haven't migrated to their new fundraising platform yet. From what I've seen, the new platform is a lot more usable. The classic platform is clunky and just has an old interface. The navigation isn't intuitive and it's easy to lose your place in the system.

Support Rating

OneCause support (both our account rep and technical support) have always been responsive and collaborative on problem-solving. They are communicative around events and are available via email (which is all we've needed) in reasonable response times. They are not as responsive in live sessions/webinars, but I'm always able to follow up after large calls to get my questions answered.

Alternatives Considered

DonorHub and Give Lively

Give Lively has helped us with digital events and continues to process some of the sustaining donors we got from those events. We don't use it for in-person events because their tool doesn't allow for credit card swiping/saving at check-in, which is what we use for our pledge/donation ask. Donor Hub was assessed as an alternative but wasn't chosen for the same reason.

Likelihood to Recommend

OneCause is great for fundraising event management. It's best suited for when you want a technical solution without a huge technical lift. If you are in a situation in which you do not have staff who are comfortable with on-the-go data management capabilities, this may offer more than you actually need. It's one of the only tools out there that still allows for credit card swiping at check-in with NO donor login necessary. While donor login can be helpful and more efficient, for our audience it's not as desired, so we like to be able to manage our donations manually.
