Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Oracle GoldenGate to replicate data between data centers.

Pros and Cons

It supports multiple data sources including IBM/Oracle/Microsoft
Natively supports Oracle, but not DB2
Has the flexibility for CDR

No GUI
Hard to manage
Lots of BUGS on IBM DB2, does not even support timestamp on extract
Performance is BAD on IBM DB2 for replication
Trail file has bad data sometimes
Hard to refresh table for IBM DB2
Production support is very slow and bad

Return on Investment

Lots of failures on the replication, we have to shutdown [our] site as the replication cannot catch up.

Alternatives Considered

We have it in the company. Oracle says they can work in our DB2 environment, but [this] proven wrong.

Likelihood to Recommend

Oracle to Oracle is a good choice, but not for DB2 to DB2.
