Overall Satisfaction with PaperCut

PaperCut was installed as a centralised print management solution across Ricoh MFPs.
Enabling secure print release, user authentication linked to our security cards.
We can track usage by user and department, enforcing print rules, and supports cost recovery from 3rd parties that use our printers.

Ability to prevent sensitive documents from being left unattended.
Key goal was to reduces paper waste and supports environmental initiatives. with the centralisation it has simplified device management across the printer fleet.

Pros

  • Printer Managment
  • Cost Control
  • Job Security
  • Sustainability

Cons

  • Printer screen customisation has some limitations
  • Cannot change a username after the account is created
  • Reduction in paper usage due to prints only being printed when a user swipes in
  • Less overhead managing the printer environment, no need to manually update address for scan to email etc
  • One printer that is deployed to all users client computers making deployment really easy.
Buttons on screen are easy to get to main functions. We have turned on access via proxy card so building security cards can swipe you into the printer giving you easy access to release your jobs.
Printer Logic at the time was more complicated and more expensive to setup

Once setup the solution is perfect for any business that has multiple printer devices and wants a way to centrally control them and manage their users prints and scans both from a security and sustainability point of view.
Easy integration in AD means emails are automatically synced for Scan to Email function.

Where i believe it would not be as useful is if you had a smaller number of printers and or staff
