Overall Satisfaction with Piwik

We used Piwik to handle our analytics, being that we were an open-source project and trying to save tax dollars it seemed the perfect fit. Our main usage was to track which areas of our site were more popular, and to find out what areas of the world were where the concentration of where our users were. It was not the only product being used in our organization, but the only one that we worked with directly. We found it to be slightly more user-friendly than Urchin and the learning curve was very reasonable. After a short time we had the product up and running, we could produce the reports we needed and we were very happy with the general stability of the product.
  • Easy implementation
  • General stability
  • Robust features
  • Could be more customizable
  • Better usage of resources
  • Validation of project importance
  • Ability to show general impact
At the time we did try Google Analytics and Urchin, however, due to our need for the upmost privacy using a product hosted on Google was difficult to sell. If you are looking for something that you can maintain separately without giving your data to Google with most of the same functionality this product is perfect.
I would, if I were still part of this project, renew and continue my usage of Piwik. It met all our needs, saved us money and we were able to customize it to suit our needs. Generally speaking, the product was more than efficient for its use and very pleasant to work with.
Depending on the type of analytics research you are trying to attain, there are situations when perhaps another product might be more suitable. In general, especially for the price, this product seems to have all your basic needs, you can see what's popular, and geo locate your users. It all depends on your company's particular needs, and a newer version might have more functionality than I worked with.
