Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using Planview Projectplace on a trial basis in our project for project management and mainly for the support services and thus using the Kanban board feature more proactively than any other feature from Planview Projectplace. We are also able to do meeting management, milestone management, archive documents and enable team conversations on specific issues through chat channels. One key part to note is that we started to operate in DACH region and the service's availability in German language is super helpful.

Pros and Cons

though it focuses mainly on views it has less of dashboards or charts for use thus lacks in pictorial representation of the data
some users we have talked to are concerned about pricing so we want to be fully sure before our trial period ends and we start using it

Return on Investment

we are still on trial basis but our collaboration with German team has been very fruitful
with Planview Projectplace, Kanban board and managing the bugs and support activities have been very easy
one thing we are trying is integrating Planview Projectplace with the Gantt chart feature in Ricksoft tool and the results are looking fab

The support and installation process both have been very smooth and Planview Projectplace has a great team to help members onboard and acclimatize with the tool.

Usability

overall Planview Projectplace has been very useful especially for support activities in our project where we depended on Kanban board. Tracking individual tasks and their progress has helped us keep track of our goals and make a push to meet the timelines or deliver more. There is always info available of the whole group's workload which is something that makes our goal planning very efficient.

Atlassian JIRA Align (formerly AgileCraft) and Rally Software (formerly CA Agile Central)

Planview Projectplace gives Jira a very tough competition in terms of its very powerful Kanban feature set. Its tracking individual tasks and workload in one single view is also one up on Jira.

Likelihood to Recommend

Tasks or goals are easy to breakdown and represent as cards on Kanban boards after which we can track them with individuals for updates and completion which is very good in terms of being on top of the things at any given point of time. This really has increased team efficiency by a small margin in how our team operates and completes their allocated goals. We are also able to view the workload of group of people or individuals and thus get a good overview of the planned work in a particular time frame.
