Overall Satisfaction with PrinterLogic

We were unable to control printing of colours and track/report users' print volume effectively until we found Vasion Print. As we have multiple sites across Australia and some are located in remote location, having a print server locally or remotely is not feasible. Vasion Print is serverless, as such it eliminate the need for a physical print server, thus saving us cost on that. It also enable users to print quicker since the prints doesnt need to go through a print server. Finally, as some users move around quite a fair bit, having the auto deploy feature allow the printers to be automatically installed without having IT involvement, saving time for both the users and IT.

Pros

  • Direct printing without the need to go through a print server. As such printing is quicker.
  • Serverless. The need for a physical print server is not needed.
  • Auto deployment of printers. i.e when users are at a particular IP range, the printers from that subnet will be install automatically.

Cons

  • Reporting - eg via AD's CostCenter property
  • Alerts - eg if the printer colour print go beyond a predefined number
  • Cost saving - Able to track print costs, eliminate the print server
  • Time saving - Auto deployment removed the need for IT to install printers and no wait time for users for the printers to get setup
  • Improved monitoring of printing
PaperCut is more expensive and need a print server. It is not feasible to be use at remote locations especially we have many remote sites across Australia with limited internet.

In general, it is cost effective and serverless. it will be useful for companies with a lot of remote sites. for example, we have office and remote sites. We can have 25-30 remote sites at any time, these sites can be at Pilbara area or Barrows Island where Internet is not at its best. Having a local print server is too expensive.
