Vasion Print is a great alternative to a physical print server. When used correctly, it solves many of the IT issues related to how print servers function. This includes ease of creating new print queues, connecting users to the print queues, and quickly making changes to print queues. Changes can be as simple as choosing a default printer or pushing out new printer properties such as double sided printing. The biggest advantage of Vasion Print is the ease of pushing out print queues. Once the Vasion Print agent is on a workstation there are no longer any permission issues that prevent the queues from installing correctly.

Vasion Print is especially well suited for medium to large offices that use standard printers such as laser printers or basic copiers. The issues it resolves from a IT standpoint make the investment well worth it. For an office that has graphics intensive printers or large format plotters, there are some limitations due to the way printer drivers get pushed out. In some cases the printer drivers are not standard and therefore not supported. Small offices are also better off dealing with a typical print server due to cost restraints.
