Overall Satisfaction with Progress WhatsUp Gold

We use Progress WhatsUp Gold in order to monitor everything from cpu, disk, memory to services and uptime. It allows us to have an agentless and vendor agnostic monitoring solution that can provide data to essentially any device with an ip address. They have quite a few built in monitors with the ability to query anything that is exposed via snmp or WMI.

  • Network device monitoring

Cons

  • Needs better options for 2FA
  • Needs even more built in monitors
  • Better performance
  • Allows us to find problems before users do
  • Gives us the ability to be proactive vs reactive
  • Allows for a myriad of alerting options so staff can address potential issues
The web interface is really good, there are a few areas that could use a bit of polish but overall it is well designed and easy to navigate and use, even for a new user.
Progress WhatsUp Gold is able to do multi vendor and is able to do so without the need to install and maintain an agent. It used industry standard tools to pull data to monitor your systems and infrastructure.

It does well for environments where you have a varied deployment with mixed operating systems and don’t want to have an agent installed, it does well with industry standard monitoring options like WMI and snmp
