Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Sense

We use the Qlik Sense app across the organization at Air Products. From sales, operations, procurement, finance, business management, we have created a lot of different apps to address various needs. Whether it is revenue-related data (sales, price, volume), or costs/spend data, or other metrics that are of use from a distribution standpoint (miles, number of deliveries, etc.).
  • It is very easy for an individual to quickly adjust and manipulate views. Allows folks to feel comfortable beyond spreadsheet reporting.
  • Creating an app is easy enough once the back end data is created (QVD). This allows folks to create reports that will be auto-generated and managed by IT, versus having spreadsheets that lose their integrity when staff changes.
  • The ability to have security allows for better protection of data as compared to a spreadsheet which can be cumbersome.
  • Sometimes, too much data can be an issue, and the app slows down significantly.
  • Clicks or filtering can be cumbersome, turning off potential users. Having better voice recognition commands could alleviate.
  • Better mapping capability would be nice. I would like to be able to overlay store points along with customers as an example.
  • The Qliksense apps have allows questions to be answered more quickly and consistently.
  • It has allowed insights into decisions that historically would've been guesses.
  • Allows broader access to folks in remote locations to be able to make decisions locally.
I did find Tableau was easier to use, and from a mapping feature, more easily manipulated to get the output I desired. We did not have a Tableau enterprise license and so I ended up using Qlik Sense. Air Products also uses QlikView, and frankly, I think both are good, although perhaps Qliksense easier to modify. I have heard counter-arguments to that.
Creating dashboards or scorecards is a great use of Qlik Sense. It allows individuals to deep drill as well to find drivers of performance/issues. Some folks like to use it as more of an interface to SAP/Business Warehouse as a mechanism to dump data from a database. I think this is an elementary use of Qliksense.
