Overall Satisfaction with Qlik Sense

Qlik Sense is our enterprise reporting tool and is used by all parts of the organization. We have developed may Qlik apps from various systems, many for pure reporting needs and some for the analytics value and very few for providing insights
  • User Friendly - As Qlik Sense charts and sheets are very simple to understand, users use the apps analogous to any website
  • Qlik tools in general have the sscripting capability and in the absence of a dedicated reporting warehouse, Qlik comes in handy for quick data transformations inhouse
  • Qlik associativity and in memory feature help the analysts to piece things together in less coding and development
  • Qlik sense colour palette is very impressive and appealin
  • Qlik sense does not have many different chart options and is very limited on the Data science space
  • Qlik sense is more user friendly than developer friendly
  • Qlik sense supporting extensions keep failing quite a bit
  • Positive - Users were able to derive quick insights with the associative feature. New numbers and patterns that they have never seen or thought of before starting emerging
  • Positive - Qlik sense helped deliver a standard reporting interface to all business units and reduced adhoc reporting saving analyst time.
  • Negative - License costing should be planned out well
  • Negative - Integration of Qlik sense insights onto our website also required a huge investment on top of the enterprise edition
Back then when we were evaluating different products, Tableau was very much limited in combining different data sources and was compelling us to have a cleaner reporting platform on hand to derive insights . Power BI also had issues in doing data transformation and was reliant of the SSIS tools to do a data cleanup. Qlik Sense on the other hand had a flavor of data engineering built in through its scripting capability.
Qlik Sense comes in real handy when the data sources are disparate and needs to be transformed just in time before reporting. You don't need a cleaner warehouse or a reporting layer or a dedicated data transformation engine to get started with reporting.

Qlik Sense standard visual charts that comes with the product are very much limited in customization and is not too very suited for data science needs. Generic trending is cool but the charts are not intuitive to derive insights unless we script for that.
