Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase

Quickbase is used as the primary engine to drive operations and workflow for our program. We provide services to hundreds of prospective entrepreneurs each year. We use Quickbase for:

- maintaining our master contact list

- master calendar tracking scheduling of all meetings, participants and activities

- track enrollment and membership

- track participation and relationships

We also utilize Quickbase as the authoritative data source to manage logins to a private server using an external web service that queries QuickBase. Using the same technique we are able to generate reports and views of selected data on a real-time basis to appear on a web app for guests who do not have QuickBase access.

  • Fast - access to records is snappy
  • Ability to customize for each role and user
  • More tools for integration with email, especially with Outlook and Gmail
  • Ability to generate calendars compatible with both iCal and Outlook allowing automated access to pull entries
  • Would also be excellent to allow two-way synchronization, using something like Outlook to manage the calendar - but would need to set record editing privileges by user
  • Ability to integrate with Dropbox to point to files without requiring uploading additional copies
Ee were faced with the need to replace a long-used intranet platform that was end of life. We were able to rebuild and deploy a solution using QuickBase within a matter of days. We were also able to develop our own web-services to integrate QuickBase data into additional external apps that integrate with an array of other web platforms in order to provide a completely custom workspace tuned precisely to our workflow process. Maintenance has been extremely easy, with only a few minutes of time per year required.
It can be a little cumbersome for citizen developers to build new applications - but they can do it if they apply themselves. The real question is whether that's the best use of their time. If it is a simple app and will be used only by themseleves, it may be fine. But if it is more complex and will be widely used, then it is more sensible to obtain professional assistance to design and execute the app building.
  • Building and deploying business applications faster
  • Improving our ability to drive insights from our data
  • Improving collaboration across one or more teams
  • Solving a specific business challenge
  • Building and deploying an application (or multiple applications) that meets our exact needs
It is easy, but you should still have a good understanding of data base design and QuickBase in particular to ensure your modifications perform as you wish them to.
QuickBase is great when you need access from remote locations and/or from many devices (desktop, tablet, phone) or when you need to interact with other web applications.
