Overall Satisfaction with QuickBase
Because QuickBase is a customizable software it enables us to track the minor trust accounts in the way that fits our needs the best. There are only a few of us that have access to this software.
- It is a software that you create to suit your needs.
- The software is always being updated and there has never been a down time for us.
- The applications are limitless if you have the time to create them.
- Because Quickbase has so many different possible uses, it would be nice if they had a consultant who would spend a day with you helping to setup your software, and then if they would check back with you to see how things are going periodically.
- So many of the formulas are very tricky and can be difficult to tweak for a new application. Perhaps a wizard of sorts could be implemented.
Because we are a sovereign government our statutes and reporting needs are different than the typical local governments. The setup was a little time consuming and the learning curve for me was tough. I watched a lot of webinars and studied a lot of applications that had already been created. We have had it up and running for a few years and it hasn't failed us yet.
Quickbase was the only software to do what we needed and simply put is "because I wrote it the way we needed it".
I use Excel all day long and I don't use all the functionality that it has to offer because I have a hard time learning a new language. I did not grow up with computers but I have been forced to accept them and use them. So for me, this software was a challenge and at times still is but what is does for us is very crucial and it would be very difficult and time-consuming to track otherwise.
- Solving a specific business challenge
I did try several times to use a quickbase designed application but they were written with a business stand point. The application I needed was more of a banking scenario, with additions, market changes, fees, and loans, but with special tribal government payout plans that are based upon education. I update my software application formulas once every quarter. It's gotten easier with time and experience.
