Make QB Enterprise a Modern Cloud Solution by Choosing a Great Hosting Partner!
Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise
Enterprise is good value in the lower tier of comprehensive accounting systems. When well configured, it is excellent for manufacturing and wholesale users. While we don't use it ourselves any longer, we help other businesses that use QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise by designing custom reports that are not available within the application. This minimizes the need to export reports to Excel and cobble and reformat for the desired output.
Pros
- Best value for the price point compared to alternatives.
- Fairly easy to set up.
- Automatic double-sided transaction entries.
- Lots of Custom Fields (user-defined fields).
- Lots of great integrated apps available to extend functionality.
- Manufacturing and Construction-related industries
Cons
- Files are easily corrupted - without being obvious to the users.
- Intuit's minimum hardware requirements are insufficient for multi-user environments.
- It's a challenge to access the data to use outside the application for other purposes.
- With some integrated applications, we've turned it into a very decent ERP at a fraction of the cost.
We can add user licenses at any time - and we can also use an integrated application to AVOID having to add users yet still give non-accounting users access to the data that is critical to performing their work. We also chose a fantastic hosting partner to put Enterprise in the cloud - it keeps it much safer and makes it possible for people to work from wherever they need to be.
I came to the organization after it was rolled out so I can't really reflect on this question.
There is a tremendous community built up around QuickBooks - so much knowledge to tap into. There are Facebook groups that have been a goldmine for answering questions that help solve quite a number of puzzles about QuickBooks - and our processes and workflow.
If you need lots of custom fields (e.g. more than three), you want to manage inventory within QuickBooks, or you want to track Landed Costs, QB Online is not a tool for you. Enterprise functionality has been around for years and it's solid. It will be many years before the Online version will match the features that Enterprise has.
