Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop Premier

I enjoyed using my desktop version of Quickbooks. I had no real issues with it. They just stopped supporting my version so I had to upgrade. I prefer it so much more than the online version. It had a great layout and each section was easy to find. Help was just a few clicks away. I found the employment section to be my favorite part.

Pros

  • Employment - it makes creating paychecks a snap and tracks taxes.
  • Invoicing - they have a straightforward approach to creating invoices and you can even email them to your customers.
  • Customers - the program makes tracking customer information and balances easy.

Cons

  • It would be great if they wouldn't outdate or stop servicing versions so quickly.
  • They could make upgrading versions easier and cheaper. Smaller companies cannot afford to keep using them.
  • The could provide better customer service to their clients. We had trouble reaching people who could actually help with our issues, not just make notes into our account. We waited weeks to get issues resolved. That doesn't work for small businesses.
  • It has made payroll and tax reporting easier for us.
  • We are able to easily track customers and billing.
  • It makes inventory and ordering quick and easy.
  • We can track vendors and what we owe without any trouble
The dashboard screens are simple and easy to read. You can find the functions that you need quickly on the screen or one the task bar at the top. The colors are soothing and subtle. Things are gathered together into the sections that you need. Besides the overall menu, there are labels at the top to locate additional functions.
We tried a few other options like Bookkeeper and using Excel to track it. Bookeeper was a little outdates and more difficult to use. I had issues find the functions that I needed. Excel is just spreadsheets of the information with no easy way to do reporting. They don't have the options and ease of use that QuickBooks Desktop does. We even tried the online version but went back to desktop.

QuickBooks Desktop is an easy-to-use software with good services. Their invoicing, employment, and vendor sections are all wonderful. These sections allow efficient tracking and instant business summaries and reporting. However, the pricing for additional services and upgrades and lack of good customer service makes it a less attractive software for small businesses.

  • No Training
Learning Quickbooks Desktop was easy for me. I have been around lots of computers and lots of software. I also tend to pick up things dealing with computers fairly quickly. I would recommend this way of learning if you were like me. Otherwise, i would recommend using YouTube or actual training.

Configuring QuickBooks Desktop Premier

I thought the configurability was just right with the product.
I do not as each company is different.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - I had specific reporting that I want it done.And I wanted a specific invoice

QuickBooks Desktop Premier Support

You can always reach someone. However, those people can only help in a few ways. If they can't help you, they can only make notes for someone else. I had very little luck with getting anyone to call me back. We waited weeks to get several issues resolved. Small businesses can't afford to wait when money is at stake.

Slow Initial Response
It came with the initial product for a year but I did not use it and did not pay for additional periods. My issues really started when they wanted to stop supporting my version. I feel if you're going to make a product that you you should stand behind it and provide support.
When I first set up my employment section, I called to get help figuring out how it worked. The agent was kind and friendly and was able to help me out quickly.

We rarely had any issues accessing the product.
Most of the time there were no issues with Quickbooks Desktop.
