Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
We use Read&Write with students who have difficulty spelling, reading and writing for a variety of purposes. Having Read&Write allows students to have assistance with spelling and composition. We particularly like the highlights tool which can organize your evidence from a written document.
Pros
- The highlight tool is really great. I like how it can organize your highlights into a google doc.
- It integrates well with google tools such as docs.
- It gives a variety of voice options to students for their reader. I had a student choose and english speaking Indian female voice because it sounded like his Mom reading to him.
Cons
- Read&Write on the iPad is very disappointing. I wish it could do all of the things that it can do on Chrome. We are a split district and have both iPads and Chromebooks. It would also be nice if it could do all of the features on an iPad because some students have difficulty carrying a Chromebook and would be able to carry and iPad between classes. These students in particular benefit from the tools on Read&Write and would benefit from more features on the app.
It works great on the Chromebook, not so well on the iPad
The moment when students realize what Read&Write can actually do is impressive. Most say "AH" when they realize how they can use tools to help them be successful in researching and writing in class.
