Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
Primary school users, mostly children, across a trust of 37 primaries. Use is predominantly for accessibility of read and writing for this age group through digital devices.
Pros
- Read aloud text
- Highlight sections of text for note taking
- Spelling banks for prediction as children write
Cons
- Interface could be better for young children
- Extension aspect is not always reliable - would be good to be further visible
- Further focus on needs of young learners
- Improved learning experience for particular children = increased outcomes
- Independence for children = more even spread of teacher's resources
- Further engagement of children in written materials outside of screen use
Useful to have access within multiple web-based experiences. However, for us the extension can be at odds with other tools that are available within alternative products, i.e. dictation within Book Creator is more obvious to the user than the Read&Write option. This can create mixed choices for the user.
Student that was able to write more independently through employing the word bank, with increased accuracy in their spelling. This may well have spread over into their own handwritten work.
Book Creator and Clicker both have more child friendly interfaces, though they can be harder to integrate without more specific training.
