Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
To give support to SEND students and exam candidates during formal examination. To support and advise students on the various applications in Read&Write that suit their individual needs, courses and progression into Higher Education.
Pros
- The ability to alter and retain settings suited to the individuals needs
- The use within other packages and programmes
Cons
- Setting the speech to text up on different devices that do not have the internet speed to function smoothly or if it is in Exam mode and the user is not constantly using the speech to text mode.
- Grouping the voices on their style such as harsh, clipped or soft would enable to pick their preference quicker rather than going through all of the different countries.
- The impact that it has had on the staff supporting students is huge as they have a tool that they can direct students to who are struggling to use the tool and get support to use it in their own individual way. There are currently no numbers for this as we have only started using Read&Write this year for both Exams and SEN support and it will take 2 years for the use to have a clear and measurable impact.
This is hard to assess due to the strong connectivity needed by students to access their accounts to use Read&Write on their own personal devices. Through their Office 365 portal that we use as a Sixth Form College located in a rural area of the UK with very little 5G coverage all of the time.
For myself it has been the customisation that I have set-up in Read&Write in a way that works for me that I can then show students and they can see how it would impact the way that they work.
