Overall Satisfaction with Sage Intacct
We use Sage Intacct as our primary ERP, used for POs, AP, AR, GL. Our primary reason for getting Sage Intacct was for contextual notes on gl records for our non-profit, and for its dimensions.
Pros
- dimensions
- dimension rules
- basic reporting
Cons
- modernization
- Screens and data entry for the non-financial user
- AP automation
- PO simplicity
- Expense handling
- single sign on
- mobile apps
- data visualisation
- ai analysis
- cost
- Through support for dimensions we were able to move from fund accounting to accrual accounting with dimensions. this reduced some complexity
- overall though dimensions are complicated and not well supported with 3rd party applications
- integrations to Sage Intacct are massive undertakings and costly.
we find we are a bit of a slave to the product. the data entry screens for AP are time consuming and the tax implementation isnt very good. as non-profit we retain some of the tax receivable as earnings and we had to create complicated work arounds for that.
non-finance users find POs and expense claims ridiculously complicated and refuse to do them after extensive training.

we use multi-entity, but our business structure doesnt require us to do inter company transfers very often. Time and expense management is being used and helped but the lack of end user trust and usability has left us looking for alternatives. spend management was a bust due to how dimensions work. we would need spend manaagement to the cost centre level but we budget to the item level. if items are budgeted one way and expensed another we found that spend management didnt work in a way that provided benefits to the user as everything was a false error.

Yes - there is no dedicated mobile app. The mobile web interface allows you to do 1 or two functions in a way that is reminiscent of 2008. The mobile experience does not support deep linking from email notifications nor does it support single sign on. There have been no updates to the mobile interface since the app was acquired years ago. Swithcing to the full desktop is not an easy option, you have to use the browser to request the full site.
