Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

We use it for both enterprise dashboards, self service analytics and financial planning. At present, we only provide SAP BW/4HANA live models as a source for analytics and this allows for a supported, single source of truth for all business reporting and analysis. Financial planning is a recent addition.

Pros

  • Live connection to BW
  • Fast delivery of analytics
  • Self service analytics

Cons

  • Native analysis with fiscal periods is troublesome
  • Data blending is very poor, best to model data outside of SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Building stories - placement of objects is frustrating - relative positioning would be a welcome capability
  • Excellent uptake by business users for self-service
  • A highly customisable financial planning tool
The usability of the product has reached a good level of maturity but some of the features are hard to find. The level of capability of the tool still has some way to go compared to other competitors.

Well suited: slice and dice analysis (data analyzer), simple dashboards or interactive stories, financial planning templates
Less appropriate: Formatted reporting
