Overall Satisfaction with SAP Ariba Procurement

SAP Ariba Procurement is used by my organization for handling and managing contracts and for paying suppliers as they invoice for the purchase orders made by the company. The platform is used by the whole organization and it is used to add uniformity and velocity to our interaction with suppliers and also for adding a layer of controls.

Pros

  • Integrates well with other SAP applications, thus facilitating the free transfer of information.
  • Relatively intuitive, resulting in a reduced need for intensive training for the supplier and company employees.
  • Global intranet access, which makes simultaneous use by multiple organizations and suppliers possible.

Cons

  • The ease of use needs to be improved. The application can be cumbersome and not very user friendly.
  • There is almost no help or customer service. The presence of robust help and customer service options would make the system more robust.
  • You cannot open two windows at the same time, which makes referencing the data difficult.
  • SAP Ariba Procurement has had great positive impact, as it helps to take a wholistic view on a particular organization's operations and finances.
  • The negative impact probably comes from the frustration that the users might have while navigating the relatively less user-friendly platform.
  • Helps add velocity to the implementer's and supplier's business, saving valuable man hours.
SAP Ariba Procurement actually stacks up pretty well against these platforms, not just in terms of integration but also from the contractual and cost-effectiveness point of view. As most of our databases are SAP-based anyway, using this helps us to further the SAP ecosystem and take advantage of consolidations and learning curves.

Do you think SAP Ariba delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with SAP Ariba's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP Ariba live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of SAP Ariba go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SAP Ariba again?

Yes

The system is well suited for big corporations that deal with a large number of suppliers. It is helpful in maintaining compliance with controls and helps users from different parts of the organization access the exact same set of data. It is not appropriate when the transactions with the supplier are really limited, as it could be cumbersome for the supplier if they don't already use it.

Using SAP Ariba Procurement

1000 - They are mainly in the supply chain, procurement, and manufacturing realm. They are either ordering, procuring, or using the items ordered from different suppliers. Of course, on the supplier end, the people who use the system are the ones who fulfill orders and make the parts that we use.
10 - They are mainly software support and application development folks. There are also some supply-chain folks who handle the contract piece of the equation and the business relationship with SAP for greater strategy implementation.
  • Procurement
  • Maintaining compliance
  • Easier integration with other SAP apps
  • Improving our free cashflow
We have been happy with the overall effectiveness and velocity that the use of SAP Ariba Procurement and, in general, almost all of the SAP applications in terms of awesome integration and adding velocity to our business--quicker execution and lesser overhead, and thus ultimately cost savings.
