Overall Satisfaction with SAP BusinessObjects Lumira

As an option for use within SAP BI Platform for Data Exploration visualisations across the whole organisation. Allowing data to be manipulated and questions to be asked of it beyond standard reporting tools.

Pros

  • Integrates with SAP BI Platform Universes
  • Integrates with SAP BI Platform front end
  • Visual impact over WebIntelligence.

Cons

  • End User experience is not as refined or as focused as some competitors.
  • Not as feature rich as some competitors yet.
Both Tableau and QlikView score very highly in end user experience and visualisation development compared to Lumira. However the integration of Lumira with existing Universes you may have or cost implications if you have a SAP BI Suite licence can help shift the preference into Lumira's favour. All three can sit along side a larger BI solution like SAP BI or Cognos.
SAP Business Objects, SAP Data Services
If you already have a SAP BI Suite licence which includes Lumira it is a good starting point for testing Data Exploration use cases. Reuse of existing Universes defined within a larger SAP BI system is also a beneficial scenario. A BI Platform you can publish visualisations to will help get the information out to wider audiences in a controlled way.
