Firstly, SAP lumira is one amazing product that I would use daily for making data-driven decision. It has become easy for visualization. We use a lot of real-time data to process and make decisions in a short time frame. It's mostly used in the ops department. We were handling improvement projects where we had to reduce wait time and delivery time. With SAP lumira, we were able to see where the maximum time was spent in the whole process and how to improve upon it.
  • Recommended charts option will give you a quick overlook at your data
  • Customization of the charts and graphs as per our needs
  • The interface is user-friendly and there are videos to help you to navigate along in case you get lost
  • Easy visualization, more detailed reports, good for presentation
  • Manual data entry in LUMIRA
SAP lumira is well suited for medium and large enterprises but would not suit well for small and local businesses. It is well suited for organizations handling businesses across the world such as global trade, global sales, etc. It would not be suited for small businesses like hyper local logistics, small food shops or local food chains.

We can emphasize the initiative thinking that attracts a lot of my interest. Sap Lumira Discovery, because it allows for the rapid transformation of views from one type of graph to another, this virtual export tool that the software contains, in the same way, being very incredible the results of large-scale reports, which is another function that I love, because they are well analyzed in every aspect that these analytical documents contain, without excluding that this program acquires a design based on the speed of each aspect it has.
  • Real-time analytics
  • Constant discoveries of relevant data
  • Easy to publish and share reports
  • Data Security and Protection
  • Bookmarking
  • Limited functionality to manipulate data
SAP Lumira Discovery was implemented in our organization for several purposes that it contains in its design, which covers our needs when we refer to these areas, and which is used by my department's team to obtain consultations that can be fully customized to acquire in a favorable disposition of the important data for the analysis and visualization of the necessary qualifications information, taking advantage of this tool to generate reports for the geographic dashboard.

Data exploration and conceptual prototypes for executive dashboards were attempted with Lumira. The software appears to have a strong focus on the development of infographics which is different in terms of data complexity required for the development of executive level dashboards containing key performance indicators and summary charts which have drill down capabilities. The ability to connect to various data sources is well supported in SAP BusinessObjects Lumira although I was unable to quickly transform a Lumira chart into a SAP BusinessObjects report using the Web Intelligence framework. It would be ideal if the SAP BusinessObjects product line allowed users to seamless transition work performed from one product line to the other.

Infographics derived from specific data sources appears to be well suited for development using Lumira. The development of executive level dashboards was less appropriate from my perspective. The software does not provide sufficient demonstration or samples for the users to learn from in my opinion.

SAP Lumira Discovery helps us to decipher the massive amount of usable internal data to be translated and transform into visual reports. Helps to organize data, which can be put into charts and graphs to analyze data and help in making strategic decisions with very significant business information. A great tool to make sense of all the internal data on multiple platforms.
  • Interpret high volumes of internal data and transform into visual reports.
  • Analysis of visual reports to make strategic decisions.
  • High level analytics.
  • To many options making it difficult to navigate.
  • Layout should be more up to date.
SAP Lumira Discovery is a flexible, accurate, and time-saving tool. It works pretty well if you have high volumes of internal data available to be analyzed and transform into a visual report for decision-making related to resource planning and scheduling. It is easy to use and deployment in a professional setting requires not a great deal of effort to obtain optimal results.

SAP Lumira helps to create the data visualization layer with self service analytical capabilities and well integrated to the backend core ERP system(s). Many out of the box templates and the accelerators make the work easy for the business intelligence. The data can be real-time and more trusted instead of siloed/redundant data.
  • Real-time analytics
  • Data visualization with more conviction and robustness
  • Integrated application with drill down to source data without redundancy
  • To be harmonized with other product offerings from SAP like SAC to avoid overlapping scope
  • The inclusion of process mining in the SAP Lumira framework
SAP Lumira helped to create intuitive and real-time dashboards in a story format to the organization. However with new capabilities of SAP, like SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) providing more planning and analytical capabilities. Thus the identification of the use cases with the available products should be done. SAC is more integrated and the go to product in SAP roadmap.

In my business, we use SAP Lumira Discovery as a connectivity tool for all of our data. It is an easy tool that allows to understand, connect and manipulate data, facilitating this information to be understood by different members through the graph and share options. It contains great constant discoveries of important data that help my business and the development of different projects within our organization.
  • Connecting data
  • Data merging
  • Constant discoveries of relevant data for the business
  • Allows vast volumes of usable internal data and translate that into a graphic study
  • Too many commands
  • Can be hard to use and the process of learning is difficult as well
  • Can be expensive
  • Graphs and platforms seem outdated or old-fashioned
It is well suited for data connecting and understanding of the same. It simplifies the work of the IT team thru the development of a graphical narration to describe that same data so that it can be easily reviewed. It is well suited for businesses with large amounts of data.

SAP Lumira Discovery is used to create on-the-fly ad-hoc reports for various audiences at different levels within the organization. Report insights can be gained from this data easily. We use it to connect different data points to create more meaningful reports.
  • Ad-hoc reports
  • Easy to publish and share reports
  • Great visualization
  • More options for report customization
  • More options for data sources
  • Quicker refresh
Great for analyzing large amounts of data that require visualization. Great for sharing data with a large number of users and a big audience. Less suited for quick analysis of small amounts of data that don’t require visualization and just used for my own work.

Used SAP Lumira Discovery for self-service use cases to explore the on- premise SAP BW data. Based on the analysis some new dashboard requirements will be noted and they will be developed in SAP Lumira Designer as a custom application with moderate to complex functionalities. SAP Lumira Discovery is the tool used to analyze data which may lead to any new dashboard development.
  • Connectivity to SAP data sources
  • Easier Data Exploration for Business Users
  • Publishing and export options
  • License cost when considering the features offered.
  • Connectivity of non-SAP data sources
  • Advanced calculations/formulas
Can be used when there is strict policy against loading data in cloud. Very basic tool for exploring the data and can be a better alternative for SAP Analytics Cloud when there is restrictions with respect to cloud because of security policies. Not suited for huge or performance intensive queries.

I use SAP Lumira Discovery is a great Self service BI tools to help in my organization to bring all the businesses and my IT team together. Data Visualization and connecting, acquiring and merging data is being done here. The business problem is that it requires more cyber security to preventing thefting and manipulation of datas.
  • Bringing Bussinessess and IT teams together.
  • Create Data Visualisations and as a thorough form.
  • Connections and acquiring data.
  • Harnessess company-wide datas.
  • Data Security and Protection
  • Limited Manipulqtion
  • To little for predictioning datas and values.
SAP Lumira Discovery is well suited for collecting, acquiring, manipulating and merging data's in types of geographical and geopolitical things like weather forecast, population and democracy. It is less suitable for providing personal details of any person's id like personal detail of any individual or Banking details of any individual.

Great and effective discovery functionalities and the easy of using the SAP Lumira Discovery tool on the first time to use the software. Easy to configure the tool interface is a major point and the predictive data analytics that this SAP platform provides are very useful to the project. The ability to manage project workflow and the easy data feedback gathering on this software is effective.

Being the self-service BI software, the team in my department strives on having queries that they can create as custom queries to fetch data for analysis and visualizations on the underlying data and sharing the results of those queries in a easy to interpret form with other users. They feel their needs are fulfilled to a very great extent by SAP LD. They are able to actually do a lot of data discovery very easily for lot of applications so that tells in an obvious manner that it can be integrated with lot of other systems. The on-prem solutions/installation makes it another factor in favor of SAP LD as a great tool.
  • Data discovery and integration with applications.
  • Ability to generate visual reports with meaningful business insights.
  • Integration with Microsoft office.
  • Integration with SAP Cloud platform and BI tools like Tableau.
  • Amazing mobile interface with responsive UI experience.
  • Ability to generate visual dashboards with charts and maps.
  • The loading statuses and logs of integrated apps like SAP design studio - helps the users know which application is taking the time or blocked.
  • Consistent formatting tabs for charts and other visual dashboard options.
  • Bookmarking for which scripts have to be used still.
When working with the SAP ecosystem of apps, SAP LD is one of the best BI tools to go with. For analytics be it with cloud or mobile apps, it is really well suited. Its interface is most likely relatable with other popular BI tools like Tableau, Microsoft BI. Thus people switching from other BI apps for SAP LD to enjoy the interoperability and ease of working with SAP apps are in for a treat.

This helps allow a sense of all data in various layouts and interpretations to better better business decisions and modifications. The software helps us do complete reporting and is an easy to use and understand platform with limitless options to present our data, sort and find it.
  • The software is good for charting data to present visualized information for current and upcoming ideas of business transactions and opportunities.
  • Data sorting and charting for use with SAP and can be used by users to support data and visualize what is being highlighted.
  • Value wise Lumira is a very simple and straightforward tool to use and is user friendly.
  • There isn't a current way to publish information into the cloud.
  • Limited data narrowing or crunching versus MS Office
Lumira is a powerful visualization tool that is good for presenting information and data to users for reporting and analyzing critical data. This has been a useful tool for our business in comparing and contrasting data from various projects to determine acquisitions and project opportunities.

SAP Lumira, a software to visualize your large data and allows users to explore data deep down. It helps to understand the data requirement, what needs to be done to grow your company. It is basically a BI tool designed for small or large companies. It can be used for accounting, reporting, make graphs and charts. Easy to load data and create graphs.
  • Easy to load data and use it. Sometimes we need technical help to create graphs but mostly it is easy once you learn.
  • Support numerous kind of data source.
  • Value for money.
  • Need a proper training to use.
  • Need to enhance integration with MS Excel.
  • Limited functionality.
The tool is great, easy to scale and is on budget to buy. It supports a large number of graphs to represent your report and make a presentation for clients. It uses numerous data sources which can be used. It needs to improve, there are a lot of features which other software provides such as maps, scheduling, formatting.

Everyone has data, and spreadsheets have been around forever. More and more, clients are becoming more accustom to viewing information, whether professionally pertinent to their business or in journalism, in visual representations. Lumira is a step in that direction that helps our organization to bridge the gap between piles of data, and visual representations of that data which are more engaging, easier to digest and often times reveal relationships that were not as readily apparent otherwise.
  • Take large swaths of raw information and turn it into something approachable and relatable.
  • Minimize the role of IT departments being necessary for tasks that are better left to account managers, project managers and marketers as well as business owners.
  • While there is a cost involved, it is affordable and the return on investment is high.
  • Even though the process of creating visualizations of data is now greatly improved, it could still be a lot better as users become accustomed to this kind of tool and bring forward edge cases the developers did not anticipate.
  • It would be awesome to have a cross platform tool that works on more than just Windows.
  • Some options for specific graphs feel limiting.
Lumira is especially well suited where you want to customize and create tailored benchmarks for different segments of your business. Whether that means making information available to department heads, directors or even account directors and managers.

What really is valuable is the confidence you have when using the dashboards for decision making and monitoring the success of those decisions in a tailored manner.

SAP Lumira is the best BI tool to analyze big data and make perfect use of it. It helps cleaning of data and gives real-time analytics of what is going on in your business performance. With a great simple UI and analytical graphs, it is easy to find the glitch and make it correct in business performance. Searching for patterns, irregularities, data missing data, etc, Export data in CSV format, filtering, quick changing of graphs as per requirements are the functionalities which make SAP Lumira a perfect tool to use for small business.
  • Analytical Graphs with awesome calculations.
  • Self Service Data Access, Data Visualisation and Handling easy
  • Web/Mobile Support, Securely Sharing of data
  • Heavy software, need a good quality of Laptop.
  • Not a stable software.
SAP Lumira is well suited for processing a large amount of data. Analysing those data and work on it as needed. Variety of graphs, charts for identifying trends on market. Format all the data with your own measures, and to apply needed formulas without any expertise on it. Friendly UI, easy to use and learn within a few days.

We have used Lumira in several projects, one of them was for analysis and creation of ad/hoc reports, and visualizing the results of a big/data analytical project. Another opportunity when we effectively used Lumira was analysis of random incidents, where a measurement was several measurement points (technical PCs with sensors, database and application server logs). When searching for patterns and irregularities, Lumira helped us to quickly visualize outages, indicating where to further search for the problem. Seeing performance of all components on a common time-scale is very helpful for quick orientation on when and where the irregularity happens. Considering into account several millions of rows in each log, Lumira did a good job. It is advisable though to use a really quick PC with and SSD hard drive, and save the work frequently.
  • Import of semi-structured data, logs.
  • Filtering.
  • Quick transformation of views from one type of graph to another.
  • Export of results as a report.
  • It is quick.
  • We need OFFLINE viewing of data, to be able to save the reports to and iPad in HTML5 or similar format, and be able to go through the graphs with some level of interaction. I know it exports stories ... this is something more advanced.
  • Conversion to time is not sufficient, it comprises only seconds, in the IT world mostly we work with milliseconds. Not a big deal, but can be pre-built.
  • In case something is impossible to visualize, it simply says: "unable to show more than 10 000 values or similar". What about providing some suggestions on how to limit the scope?
  • What about preparing some templates for analysis of e.g. IT logs, supply chain with some predefined reports, sourcing tasks, location based reports .... some simple building blocks, that can be further tailored.
  • Currently working with SAP Lumira Discovery and the application keeps crashing by certain data sets and reports.
  • Not very stable lately, it is a good idea to save regularly work in progress, not to lose the changes in case of a crash.
It is well suited for:
  • A quick view on logs (or any other data) relating to time scale.
  • A quick view on new data.
  • For viewing and experimenting with HANA results.
Less appropriate (or not appropriate at all):
  • When we need to visualize sequences with start/stop e.g. it could visualize workflows, loops, or waiting times between steps.
  • Also it can not merge several data sources in one (or the functions are hidden somewhere?)

In our MIS program, students use a number of tools to learn about enterprise systems, ERP, Data Warehouses, and analytics. The student use at least three Data visualization programs so they can compare and judge which one they like and why. They start with Lumira and other SAP programs like BeX and WebI. These are cumbersome to use and not as fully developed as other software/systems they will use. They run their businesses using SAP software and then extract the data to visualize it, from procurement to inventory to sell to financial statement data.
  • SAP has built in features you would expect from a data visualization package, like easy import from other SAP systems.
  • SAP has most of the typical charts that you would expect in order to visualize your data.
  • SAP allows you to have multiple charts on one visualization for your data.
  • SAP is not as intuitive as other visualization software and you have to find an expert to show you how to do some of the simplest things.
  • SAP is still working on the package so it is in constant change, and it makes 'learning' the software more difficult than it needs to be.
  • SAP keeps renaming, re-merging, un-merging its systems so the 'Roadmap' they are so famous for is only valid for about 6 months!
It is suited for an organization that is totally invested in SAP already and does not want to spend more money for a visualization system that will more meet their needs. A complete SAP shop would be the only time I would recommend it.

We use it to highlight KPI's, trends in Sales and Logistics trade lanes. We also use SAP Lumira dashboards for deals to identify areas in Sales, that the organization needs to focus on to be more effective, like Churn based customer reporting. We use Lumira to connect directly to BW queries on BW4HANA.
  • Excelled connectivity to all SAP products like BW, HANA as well as to SAP's trademark SAP BO Universes.
  • Cost effective and can be implemented with little technical effort. It is part of SAP Analytics enterprise license by SAP.
  • Dashboards and applications are saved in BI launchpad I self so all security developed in SAP BI can be reused.
  • Lumira could provide better charts
  • Visualization in-memory engine must be improved
  • Map analysis of Lumira needs significant upgrades to compete with market leaders like Tableau.
SAP Lumira is not suited for doing big data analysis. it is very useful for small and medium data sets.

SAP Lumira with the brand name SAP is a strong product for data visualization and used by my finance and accounts teams majorly. It has great data visualization and supports the users for non-data fields also. The accounts team uses this for some financial data visualization and draft it into the presentation.
  • Data visualization is near to perfect
  • One doesn't need to be a data expert to use this
  • It has great Business Intelligence features
  • The main problem we faced is that we couldn't use external plotting methods
  • Customization of data charts takes a lot of time
  • The inbuilt features are only good for non-technical persons
When one of your team lacks in terms of being technically profound and has daily usage of data visualization, presenting charts and calculating simple financial models, SAP Lumira is a very good product to use. But, if your community is technical friendly and one has to use various plotting methods with huge variety of data, it lacks in that field. For that, I would prefer some more sound data visualization platform.

I have implemented this tool across different organizations and trained users in using Lumira's visualization capabilities. It addresses inventory, production and sales problems.
  • Visualization
  • alter data structures and correlations
  • expanding the age reports involved in monthly reviews
  • Should have Excel-like pivot table drill down features
  • Integration with MS excel needs to enhance for importing data
  • Output formats are bit rigid
  • Limited functionality to manipulate data before reporting
When working with Lumira, we noticed that there are not that many charts available to do any statistical analysis. for example No Control charts, Histogram, Gantt chart, Highlight Table. Hope Lumira can incorporate some of these features in later versions.

It is being used across the whole organization for dashboarding purposes. It helps C-level department heads analyze their HR data quickly and determine where the most cost-effective organizations are located. It also is used to view where the most vacancies are across the organization to see where more budget should be allocated to help productivity.
  • Visualize data in a nice and professional way.
  • Doesn't allow base templates to be used. Have to recreate each visualization.
It should be more geared for users with less technical backgrounds.

Lumira is an ad-hoc analytical presentation tool for non-technical business management decision makers and end users.

I have proposed the Lumira solution for business IT heads and data analysis consultants. In the process of rolling out Lumira we started with the treasury and risk management departments. It was a successful launch allowing SAP BW data, and non-SAP Data to be presented in a meaningful way, with graphical and geographical interactive dashboards. Lumira overcomes issues with the Tableau platform regarding Microsoft SQL and Oracle DB as the multi-sourced direct universe, and SAP BW as the BEx direct source. Even though there are some limitations, waiting for the Lumira 2.0 with design studio to fulfill everything under one roof as SAP BO and Lumira 2.0.
  • Multiple Data sources enabled single tool
  • Publishing availabilities on the web, and mobile devices
  • Multiple components and canvases on single display
  • Multiple graphical objects with drilling facilities on single display
  • Improve the memory utilization with a new technique which is really an essential requirement
Lumira well suited for at a glance final high-level KPI analysis but it does not really fulfill management related detail analytics of a million records.

A trial version is being used by the sales team to extract and manipulate SAP Cloud for customer sales data, and they use Lumira to create meaningful management reports.
  • Quick transformation of data into tailored dashboard reports
  • Easy access to SAP Cloud for customer data using the SAP add-on
  • Very fast processing capability with no noticeable lag
  • Control over data import formatting - for example where amount and currency values are imported there is not enough control over the transformation and formatting and this has caused us data import difficulties where values read have been truncated due to punctuation in the amount fields.
  • The user interface is simplified, but the terminology and screen layout do not always make it obvious how to start the process for a new user - for example to add a new data source or create a new report.
Lumira is well suited for users that have little or no reporting experience but need to be able to create reporting dashboards, especially for management where the ability to manipulate the graphical output to the right format is key.

I've worked for a SAP Business One partner. We sell Lumira attached to SBO. We wanted the clients to explore all the data that they get from their ERPs, and other data sources, and visualize new insights, trends and use the geo data for exploring their business behavior.
