SAP HANA - Faster and In Memory Computing Relational Database Management System
Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA Cloud
Earlier we were using Oracle 12c, but we were getting issues to handle real-time data and also continuous database hit. We moved to SAP HANA Cloud for in-memory computing and processing of queries. Now we are providing reporting through Tableau by connecting live with SAP HANA system. After migration from Oracle to SAP HANA, we achieved a high business growth, real-time KPIs and well-made data driven decisions.
Pros
- In-memory optimization
- Real-time querying of data
- Provides flexibility and scalability
Cons
- Improper memory management
- Switching between primary and secondary nodes
- Real-time processing.
- Parallel processing of queries.
- Limited hardware compatibility.
It helped business a lot by providing realtime insights and also to make data driven decisions. Also for querying the data it provides parallel processing to get faster results when needed. We created realtime reports on Tableau with live SAP HANA connection. It helped us in providing realtime reporting of sales, revenues etc. to users.
In one of the retail business, we were getting lot of JSON, XML data from hybris client. SAP HANA Cloud helped us to deal with those kind of data. We have so many realtime transactions happening daily in Retail business. So, we achieved better performance optimization through SAP HANA Cloud.
Obviously, We have created calculated views by so many complex logic behind it and it gave us huge performance booster in terms of querying the data. Usually, what we do in the organization is that we share those calculated views with BI developer and data scientist to do analytics or to provide insights.
SAP HANA Cloud has better in-memory computing and parallel processing capabilities then Oracle Cloud.
